AFRICA | A young Nigerian Lady who lost her mother as a child bags Law degree with 4.87 first-class, putting smiles on the face of her father and family.
The young Lady named Rebecca Adama earned her degree in Law with an outstanding 4.87/5.00 CGPA from Achievers University Nigeria.
She also emerged as the overall best-graduating student of the university’s 2023 set. Speaking with Leadership News, Rebecca narrated that she lost her mother before being admitted into the university and she made a personal challenge to make her proud.
“Before I got to university, I lost my mother. And my siblings and I said we must be diligent and work harder. So, with the help of God, with diligence and hard work, I am what I am today,” she said.
She also explained that her success as not only a first-class graduate but also the best graduating student has ascertained that one of her teachers who thought she was not intelligent was wrong.

“Growing up, I was not an exceptional student and I had this teacher back then, who saw me as a dullard and talked me down. The teacher told me that I could not answer a particular question asked because it was meant for intelligent students,” she said.
Rebecca said it was not one of her goals to be among the best students when she resumed because she never saw herself in that position. But she gave her studies due diligence, and it paid off.
She said during her studies, she realized that there are no extraordinary individuals and that success is determined by following the right principles. Rebecca added that she learned that whatever one undertakes, it is good to commit fully.
She expressed gratitude to God for the academic journey, from her first year to her convocation as the overall best student where she earned seven awards. She attributed her success to diligence and God’s spirit.
Advising her colleagues, Rebecca urged them to put diligence at the centre of their various endeavours in life.
