Young woman who returned misplaced money gets rewarded for her honesty, earns N2milllion masters scholarship

A young woman named Mary Ngozi Kekwaru has been rewarded with 2 million Naira and a master’s scholarship for returning a large amount of money that was misplaced.

Mary Kekwaku is an employee at Eko Hotels in Lagos who found 70,000 dollars that a customer had misplaced at the hotel. Her honest action impressed many witnesses, and the incident was shared online.

Mary’s act of honesty served as motivation for millions of people online who trended her picture appreciating her rare act of honesty.

She was immediately gifted 10,000 dollars by Davido, a popular Nigerian afrobeat Artist. Mary was also honored with an Award of Excellence by the Management of Eko Hotels, Lagos in Nigeria.

Mary who is a native of Rivers State, Nigeria was also honored by her local government. The Chairman of her local government, Hon. Chidi Lloyd, DSSRS has approved her appointment as Brand Ambassador of the Local government, Emohua, Rivers State.

The local government chairman also awarded her a Masters’s scholarship to further her studies at any university of her choice and named a Mini Stadium after Mary in recognition of her exceptional show of honesty and integrity.

Mary was also recognized by the Ikweere local government, where she was awarded a 2 million naira cash present.


Speaking at the event, Mary expressed appreciation to the Emohua and Ikwerre Local Governments areas, the Council of Chiefs of local government, and the people of Rivers State and Nigeria for the honors bestowed on her.

She advised the people of the council area, especially the youths, to learn from her example to rewrite the negative images criminal activities were attracted to the Emohua Council area.

Mary noted that she did not steal $70,000 because she remembered the Christian virtues of not taking what does not belong to her and ever since the incident, good wills have been pouring in for her from within and outside the country, which she never expected.
