Having a good grade in your NECO is essential for university admission, scholarships, or even studying abroad.
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the 2025 June/July results, and you can now check yours online or via SMS. In this guide, we will take you through the step-by-step process on how to check your NECO results.
By the end, you also will know exactly what documents you need, how to get your NECO token, and how to avoid common errors when checking your result.
Documents Needed to Check NECO Results
To check your results, there are some important details you must get ready. Some of them are:
- NECO examination number: This is the 11-digit number on your slip.
- Token: Having a token is important as this is what you need to access the NECO portal.
- A good and Trusted internet connection or a way to save/print the result.
Having these items ready saves time and prevents errors when entering your details. Your O-Level result is crucial for JAMB, direct university admission, or foreign school applications, so applying carefully is more important.
Note that NECO results are only available through its official results portal, so avoid unverified links or agents to prevent being scammed.
How to Get Your NECO Results Token
The token is what grants you access to view your results. Before checking your result, you need to purchase a token, as this serves as a Personal Identification Number (PIN). To get a token:
Step 1: Go to the official NECO Results portal. And if you do not have internet access, you can also buy from trusted vendors who generate tokens for students.
Step 2: Create an account by filling in your name, email, and password.
Step 3: After setting up your account, log in to your dashboard and click on “Purchase Token”.
Note that each token can only be used to check a result once. So you need to purchase more than one token, depending on your preference. Each token costs N1,000 (as of August 2025).
Step 4: Complete the payment process using any payment method to acquire your tokens. After you have successfully made the payment, the purchased token will be available in your account under the “My Tokens” section.
Once you have your token, you are ready to check your result. Keep it safe and double-check that it’s valid before using it to avoid “invalid token” errors. Treat your token like a password because it grants access to your academic record.

How to Check NECO Result
Through Online via the NECO Portal
After purchasing your tokens, you are now set to check your result using the following process.
Step 1: Open the official NECO Results portal: results.neco.gov.ng. On the home page, you will see the options of ”check result ” and “purchase token”. If you have yet to purchase a token, do that first, following the process above, and if you have, let us proceed to the step below.
Step 2:Select the examination year (2025) and examination type (SSCE Internal / External).
Step 3: Enter your NECO Examination Number in the ‘Registration Number’ option and the Token/PIN you bought in the Token Option field.
Step 4: After you have input the above field carefully, without missing any numbers, click “Check My Result,” and your statement of results will display.
Step 5: Download, save, or print your result for safekeeping. You can also download it as a PDF.
Note that the exact token-buy flow can vary slightly by year, but the results portal is the official place to buy tokens. Avoid third-party sellers and social-media offers.
Through SMS:
To check your NECO 2025 result via SMS, ensure you have at least 50 naira airtime alongside your tokens, either from the portal or a trusted vendor. Below is a step by step guide:
Step 1: Open your phone’s messaging(SMS) app.
Step 2:Type your details in this format: NECOExamNoToken*ExamYear (no spaces).
For instance, if your exam number is 12345678EA, your token is 0987654321, and the year is 2025, you would type it downlike this: NECO*12345678AB*686442341122*2025.
Step 3:Send to 32327. Wait for a reply with your result.
This method is quick, but always save the result or write it down for future purpose.
Common Errors When Checking Results
“Invalid token” or “Token not found” — This means your token is not verified. Make sure you purchased the token on the official portal and entered it exactly (no extra spaces).
“Result not found”: Ensure you selected the correct exam year and type (Internal vs External) and that you typed your exam number correctly.
Portal busy or slow: Traffic or slow network is possible during immediate release. Check at night or use a stable network and avoid clicking payment links more than once.
Checking your NECO result does not have to be stressful. With your token, exam number, and this guide, you can view, save, and print your result confidently.
