AFRICA | Popular Nollywood actor Jide Awobona has celebrated a remarkable academic milestone after earning a Master of Science degree from Rome Business School, Lagos, fifteen years after completing his first degree.
His achievement has inspired fans nationwide, proving that learning is a lifelong journey regardless of age, career, or responsibility.
Jide Awobona's Story and How He Did It
Awobona’s higher educational journey began years ago at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication. Immediately after, his acting career took off, and he paused his education and focused on growing his craft.
He started acting as far back as 2002, undergoing professional training with Jovies Perfection Press. By 2003, he secured a major role in the popular TV drama Super Story: Last Honor, a breakthrough that officially launched his career.
Over the following decades, he went on to star in, write, and produce several Nollywood films, even earning a BON Awards nomination in 2020 for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Yoruba).

Yet, he persisted. His determination led him to complete a rigorous postgraduate programme at Rome Business School, strengthening his academic foundation.
Sharing the news on Instagram, he emphasized the importance of lifelong learning, no matter the age.
“The day you stop learning is the day you start dying. Against all odds, I did it. Fifteen years after my first degree, I’ve earned my Master’s. Proof that education is a lifelong journey,” he said.
“Education is about awakening potentials and expanding visions.MSc in the bag,” he added.
Though he now holds an MSc, Awobona says he will continue acting while exploring other academic opportunities. His goal is to keep expanding his knowledge base and encourage others to embrace learning at every stage of life.
