A brilliant Nigerian lady, Omolade Tola, has graduated from the University of Ibadan (UI) with a First-Class Honours degree in Law, marking a remarkable comeback after missing admission into the same faculty by just 0.75 points.
Her story is one of resilience, determination, and unwavering faith.
Omolade's Story and How She Did It
Omolade began her academic journey at UI through Direct Entry in 2019, after completing her A-Level programme, which is equivalent to a university first year. What initially felt like a setback became the beginning of a powerful success story.
“From missing admission into UI Law by 0.75, to gaining admission through Direct Entry the following year, and now graduating with First-Class Honours from the same Faculty,” she shared on LinkedIn.
Reflecting on the journey, she described it as one shaped by grit, resilience, and the refusal to give up, adding that she experienced God’s goodness at every stage and was surrounded by supportive mentors who helped her reach this milestone.

During her undergraduate years, Omolade excelled not only academically but also in leadership and community engagement.
She served in multiple roles, including Judge, Judicial Council, Law Students’ Society, UI, Member, UI Law Audit Committee, Writer, Queen Idia Hall Press, Campus Ambassador, Leadership roles in NGOs, and her campus fellowship, and was a recipient of two major scholarships that fully sponsored her LL.B studies.
In her final year, she even worked as a full-time freelance writer and launched a business, all while preparing for graduation, a demanding balance she managed through intentional hard work and divine help.
Omolade shared that this journey reinforced her belief that anything is possible when you stay committed, seek help from the right people, and trust God through the process. “This is one of my Grace stories,” she wrote.
