For 23-year-old Nigerian-American triplets Jean, Jeanet, and Jeanice Stephensons, sisterhood has always been more than just a family bond, it has been the foundation of their life, learning, and now, their shared success story.
The trio recently graduated together from South University, Montgomery, Alabama, each earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, marking another milestone in a journey they have shared since birth.
Stephenson's Triplet Story and How They Did It
Growing up as identical triplets, the Stephensons sisters were inseparable. They shared everything, from bedrooms and clothes to childhood dreams and school routines. Their closeness naturally carried into their academics.
According to Blacknews, the girls grew up watching their mother, a dedicated nurse, serve her community. This inspired them to uphold the family tradition by choosing nursing as their life path.
“If one person doesn’t know something, you can go to the other. We motivate each other, help each other, make sure everyone is passing and learning at the same pace,” Jeanice shared.
Their unique connection became an academic advantage, turning long study nights into collaborative sessions filled with patience, teamwork, and sisterly encouragement.
EXPLORE SCHOLARSHIPS
Their identical looks often amused teachers who struggled to tell them apart, but the sisters embraced it with humor. Jean recalled how their shared identity, names, looks, and routines became part of their story.
“We’ve always shared everything: cars, clothes, rooms, bathrooms… we’ve always been very close because of it,” she said.
At South University, their bond only strengthened. They leaned on each other through clinical rotations, exams, and the demanding nature of nursing school.
And when one struggled, the other two stepped in, a system that worked for all three until the moment they walked across the stage in matching caps and gowns.
Although they earned their Nursing degrees together, the Stephensons triplets plan to explore different specialties:
Jeanet hopes to work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Jean is drawn to Pediatrics or the Neonatal ICU, and Jeanice aims to build a career in the Emergency Room (ER).
Still, they share a collective dream: to work in the same hospital someday — a continuation of the unity they have known since birth.
