AMERICA | An exceptional 15-year-old boy named Tanishq Abraham has achieved remarkable academic success, earning a Biomedical Engineering degree from the University of California, Davis at just 15 years old.
He then went on to complete a Ph.D. in the same field at the university by the age of 19.
Tanishq began his higher education journey at just 13 years old, enrolling at the University of California, Davis and completing his bachelor’s degree in three years. He graduated Summa Cum Laude, an academic distinction awarded to students with the highest honors.
His father, Bijou Abraham, told NBC News that Tanishq had always displayed exceptional intelligence from a young age. At just four years old, he joined Mensa, the world’s largest and oldest high-IQ society, which only accepts individuals who score in the top 2% of IQ tests.

“We tested him and discovered that he was pretty smart. We were surprised when we started giving him advanced stuff and he was picking it up really fast,” Bijou Abraham said.
Abraham graduated from high school at 10 years old and obtained three associate degrees at the young age of 11. He earned his doctorate degree in Biomedical Engineering at the same University of California Davis.
His focus was research on using artificial intelligence in microscopy techniques for digital pathology at the university’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
”Very excited to share the news that I successfully defended my PhD research today! After 4 years 8 months in the @UCDavisGrad @UCDavisBMEGGgraduate program, I am now Dr. Tanishq Mathew Abraham (at 19 years old),” he wrote on his Twitter.
Abraham expressed his gratitude to his Family for their support and sacrifices throughout his educational journey. He also thanked his Phd advisors and dissertation team for their guidance and feedback.
Abraham is also the founding CEO of MedARC, a medical AI research organization focused on training foundation models for medicine. He also works at Stability AI, where he conducts generative and medical AI research.
