A brilliant 17-year-old girl named Sydney Guthrie has graduated with a degree from Nothern Virginia Community College, United States despite still being a high school student. She graduated with an outstanding 4.00 grade point average.
Sydney is a dual-enrollment student at Northern Virginia Community College who graduated with an associate’s degree in Science. She graduated with a remarkable 4.000 cumulative grade point average.
She made history as one of the youngest Fairfax County Public School students to get her associate’s while still in high school. Sydney said she did not plan on attending high school and college simultaneously, but her desire to gain more knowledge about the medical field gingered her.
Sydney said it started when she took an online CPR and first aid class as part of a 9th-grade Physical Education requirement which fascinated her.

Sydney said it broadened her love for all things medical, almost as if a plug had been opened, and she could not get enough. She said it was during that period she found the Northern Virginia Dual Enrollment Program.
She mentioned that her grandparents were a big part of her life as they lived in the same house with her and her mother, father, and brother. She said her grandfather, a pediatrician, was a major influence on her.
Sydney’s mother, Keira Guthrie said she is very proud of her daughter’s accomplishments. She said this is not just about her graduating as her goal was to grow, learn, and stretch herself by exploring a wide variety of courses.
Sydney mentioned that she would like to work in the medical field adding that she plans on becoming a pediatrician like her grandfather because she truly wants to make a difference in people’s lives.
