AFRICA | A young boy named Joseph Amoah Twum, who helped his parents work on their cocoa farm, has achieved remarkable success. Joseph aced the West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams, scoring 8 As, which earned him a full scholarship to university.
Joseph, a student of Bepong Senior High School studied General Arts and made history as the first student in the school to achieve straight As in the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Despite his academic success, Joseph’s dreams of furthering his studies were almost cut short due to financial difficulties. As the son of a farmer, he explained that his family often struggled to make ends meet, let alone afford a university education.

Fortunately, Joseph’s outstanding performance caught the attention of the Kwahu Ambassador, a Ghanaian brand ambassador, who stepped in to offer him a full scholarship to study at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
He also gained admission to a university abroad to pursue a degree in Economics. Joseph said he will be continue his studies at the abroad university.
“There was no hope for me before I gained admission into UCC. That’s why I returned to the village to work with my father after senior high school. “It’s only by God’s grace that I have come this far,” he said.
In another story, a brilliant Nigerian man named John Soneye has graduated from the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom with a first-class degree in Engineering despite facing the challenges of being homeless and limited financial resources.
John obtained his bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Systems Engineering with a first-class honors grade at University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Narrating his story in a post on Pulse, he said he faced some difficulties on the path to achieving academic success.
He stated that he moved from Greece to the United Kingdom at the age of 14 without his parents or family forcing him to be an independent teenager with no choice but to move from one family home to another. Read more about John HERE.
