AFRICA | A 24-year-old lady from Ghana named Kezia Asiedua Sanie has been called to the Ghana Bar after excelling in her law school examinations with outstanding grades, fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a lawyer.
With her exceptional performance, Kezia was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana, marking a major milestone in her academic journey.
Kezia's Story and How She Did It
She began her journey towards a legal career at the University of Ghana, where she earned her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in 2022.
Shortly after, she passed the highly competitive Ghana School of Law entrance exam on her first attempt, a feat many candidates struggle with for years. Two years later, she was officially called to the bar.
Sharing her achievement on LinkedIn, Kezia described the moment as one filled with joy, relief, and fulfillment, calling it a dream come true after a long and challenging journey.
Beyond academics, Kezia ran her NGO, For The Future Ghana, while in law school, leading a team of over 60 young people to support underprivileged children.
She helped rescue children from abusive homes, secured financial aid for struggling families, and mentored young people toward personal growth. However, balancing law school and humanitarian work was far from easy.
Kezia admitted that law school was the hardest thing she had ever done, battling self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and moments when she felt like giving up.
Some courses pushed her into depression, forcing her to rely on group studies and late-night reading sessions to survive the bar exams. Despite the challenges, she persevered, crediting faith, smart work, and resilience for carrying her through.
Today, Kezia stands proud, not just for herself, but for the thousands of children whose lives she has touched. She hopes to use her legal career to advocate for children’s rights and marginalized communities, while expanding her impact beyond Ghana.
She expressed her gratitude to her family, friends, and everyone who supported her through the journey. Kezia believes her journey is proof that resilience pays off and that even the toughest dreams are achievable.
