A brilliant African man named Shafic Osman has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by earning multiple degrees in Law and Economics, which earned him a PhD studentship at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Shafic will be pursuing a doctoral research degree in Law at LSE, focusing on debt governance in Ghana
”Alhamdulilah. I have the privilege of pursuing doctoral studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science as a recipient of the Law School’s PhD studentship,” he said.

Shafic began his academic journey at the University of Ghana, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics.
He then pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the same university. Following his LLB, he attended the Ghana School of Law, where he earned his Barrister at Law certificate and was called to the bar.
Continuing his academic pursuits, Shafic moved to the United Kingdom to study for a Master of Law (LLM) at the University of Warwick, where he graduated with distinction.
His doctoral research at LSE will delve into the legal and political economy history of debt governance, particularly examining the period surrounding General Acheampong’s “yentua”—a unilateral repudiation of odious debt.
Shafic expressed his deep gratitude to his support system, particularly his wife, whom he described as his “best friend,” for helping him navigate the financial challenges of being a student on a limited budget.
Looking ahead, Shafic is excited about the learning and networking opportunities that his PhD journey at the London School of Economics will bring.
