Popular American Singer, Usher Raymond IV, popularly known as Usher, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Music by the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, United States.
Usher, who began singing at the age of 12 in local competitions, rose to fame after catching the attention of a music executive from LaFace Records. Since then, he has become a global sensation with a career spanning decades and marked by numerous accolades.
The honorary degree recognizes his significant contributions to music and his ongoing philanthropic efforts. In appreciation, Usher shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, thanking the college for the honor and the opportunity to speak to its graduating class.
“Thank you @berkleecollege for honoring me and presenting me with a Doctor of Music degree. I’m so grateful for this opportunity to share a message with the next generation of artists, producers, vocalists, arrangers, dancers, and more,” he wrote.

He also shared some words of advice to the graduating class during the graduation ceremony encouraging them to keep pushing and be ready to embrace any mistake they made.
“Break the barriers, identify that spark in you that motivates you to keep going, and don’t expect everything to be perfect and run smoothly. Take what you’ve learned here at Berklee, go into the world, and make great things,” he said.
The Berkley College of Music management celebrated the singer on their Instagram, describing him as a Global megastar, eight-time Grammy Award winner, and Doctor of Music.
