Brilliant Nigerian man bags 4.86 first-class degree in Chemical Engineering, wins PhD scholarship to US without having masters degree

A brilliant Nigerian man named Feranmi Olowookere has bagged a Chemical Engineering degree with a 4.86 first-class grade from the University of Lagos in Nigeria. His remarkable academic achievement earned him a scholarship to study for his PhD in the United States.

Feranmi obtained his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria with a 4.86 over a possible 5.00 cumulative grade points, an achievement that proves he has always been an high achiever in his academic pursuits.

After graduating from high school, Feranmi had 8 distinctions out of 9 subjects in his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations also known as WAEC.

Feranmi shared his achievement on Twitter posting his graduation picture alongside his WAEC (West African Examination Council)  and Engineering undergraduate results with a ‘How it is started vs How it is going quote.

”BSc. (First Class Hons.) Chemical Engineering 4.86/5.00 CGPA 9 awards and scholarships. Convoking today!!! It can only be you God,” he tweeted.

He also mentioned that his accomplishment was recognized as he earned nine notable awards from the institution and a scholarship award from a United States-based organization to further his studies.

The scholarship will enable him to study for a Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of Alabama in the United States despite not having a master’s degree, unlike the regular norms.

Feranmi also mentioned that his active involvement in his academics which earned him good grades did not affect his social life. He mentioned that he was able to acquire some skills while in school

”Just to clarify, I did a whole lot of other things and picked up many skills while in school (AIESEC, product design, going out and having fun, networking, leadership roles, church work, etc). So no, you don’t have to abandon your social life for good grades,” he said.

Feranmi is currently studying for his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Alabama in the United States while also working as a graduate research assistant at the same university.
