AMERICA | An 18-year-old girl named Alana Wilson has achieved remarkable success in the United States after earning $1 million worth of scholarships and securing admission into 40 colleges and universities across the country.
Her achievement not only sets her apart academically but also makes her the first in her family to attend university, a milestone she hopes will inspire her younger siblings.
Alana's Story and How She Did It
Alana, who graduated from KIPP St. Louis High School in Missouri, has always known she wanted something more for herself. At just 11 years old, she posed with a handwritten sign marking her expected graduation date.
Now, years later, she graduated on the same date. “I took high school seriously because I knew I wanted to make something of myself,” Alana said, describing how she turned that childhood dream into reality.
Her journey to earning 40 acceptances across the United States was made possible with determination and hard work. Alana filled out applications tirelessly, applying for schools and scholarships whenever she could.

“I would just be sitting in my room applying, just as I am with scholarships right now. When I’m bored, I’m applying. When I’m not bored, I’m applying,” she shared.
Her determination has now been rewarded with millions in financial offers, opening doors to opportunities once out of reach.
Beyond academics, Alana also thrived in extracurricular activities. She was a member of her school’s wrestling team and step team, which made a national appearance. For her, stepping is more than just performance:
“Discipline, time management, teamwork, sisterhood … I want to keep doing it while I’m in college,” she said.
The president of academics at KIPP St. Louis, Damien Myers, stated that Alana’s success reflects their culture, where every senior for the past three years has been accepted into at least one college.
“We instill this drive in all our students from the time they join us until they graduate. Even after they leave, we continue to support them to ensure they thrive,” Damien said.
With over two dozen acceptances, Alana said she will be choosing either Alabama State University or Missouri State University. Whichever she chooses, she knows she is paving the way for her siblings while making her parents proud.
“I kind of want to set an example for them and kind of make my parents proud,” she said.
Looking ahead, Alana hopes to become either a psychologist or an actress, stating that the two paths combine her passion for understanding people with her love for expression.
