AFRICA | A brilliant man clinches 16 awards out of 22 in Medical school, emerges best graduting Doctor at University of Cape Coast.
A brilliant African man named Nathaniel Nii A. Codjoe has emerged as the best graduating student at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He clinched 16 awards out of the 22 courses he took in Medical School, showcasing exceptional dedication and talent.
Nathaniel initially started his undergraduate studies in Pharmacy at the University of Ghana but transferred after a year to pursue Medicine at the University of Cape Coast.
“I had 7 ‘A’s and a B2 after writing the WASSCE in 2015, so I applied to Legon (UG) that year. I wasn’t granted entry into Medicine, but I was accepted into the Bachelor of Pharmacy program. After a year, I transferred to UCC to study Medicine,” he said.

Nathaniel was recognized as the best student in ten areas, including Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry. He also received six prestigious awards from the School of Medical Sciences, including Best Graduating Male Student and Best Overall Male Medical Student.
In an interview with JoyNews Ghana, Nathaniel shared his goal of contributing to stroke management in Ghana. “At the moment, I’m considering neurology for now. Hopefully, by the time I complete my housemanship, things will be much clearer,” Nathaniel said.
”And I’m doing that because I have the passion to contribute to stroke management in the country because I believe that there’s a lot that I can still do with respect to stroke management,” he added
Neurology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study and treatment of disorders of the nervous system.
Nathaniel hopes to establish a facility dedicated to stroke patients and train healthcare personnel in effective management practices, reducing complications faced in the field.
