A brilliant Nigerian Lady named Sarah Kareem has graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Nigeria, with an impressive 89% grade point.
Her outstanding academic performance earned her the Best Graduating Student in Farm Power and Machinery award and the Best Female Graduating Student in her department.
Additionally, Sarah marked a significant milestone in her career by being inducted into the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), marking a significant milestone in her professional journey.

Reflecting on her journey via LinkedIn, Sarah shared that her time at OAU was filled with challenges and triumphs. The experience not only shaped her academic prowess but also honed her resilience, adaptability, and work ethic.
As a student, Sarah distinguished herself in several leadership and professional roles. She volunteered as a Project Manager for the NASA Space Hackathon (OAU Chapter) for three consecutive years, a role that sharpened her leadership and organizational skills and allowed her to collaborate with diverse teams.
Sarah gained valuable practical insights during her SIWES internship at the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), where she worked on waste management, pollution monitoring, and quality control processes.
The highlight of her industrial training came when she interned as a Research Assistant at the Department of Poultry Science, University of Arkansas, United States, as part of her undergraduate program.
During this role, she acquired critical knowledge in food safety within the poultry industry, enhanced her research skills, and developed expertise in data analysis using tools like Excel and JMP
Sarah’s academic journey culminated in the successful execution of an innovative final-year project—a pilot-scale recirculatory aquaculture system. This groundbreaking work earned recognition as the Best Final Year Project in her department.
Sarah’s exceptional achievements also earned her more awards including the Best Final Year Project in the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering.
Expressing her gratitude, Sarah said: “All glory to God for the grace to navigate this chapter of my life. I am immensely grateful for the support and guidance I received throughout this journey.”
