Brilliant Nigerian Lawyer who won 3 scholarships to Oxford University bags masters in Law, celebrates achievements

AFRICA | A brilliant Nigerian lawyer named Olga Okewulonu has earned a Master of Law degree from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

In 2023, Olga was awarded scholarships worth $80,000 to study at three different universities and an additional Professor Sir David Williams Scholarship from Wolfson College to study at Oxford .

She eventually chose to study Corporate Law with the prestigious Scholarship from Wolfson College. This scholarship supported her through the rigorous LLM program, which she completed with distinction.

Reflecting on her journey, Olga shared that her time at Oxford was not just about academic excellence but also about meaningful community engagement.

She described the past year as one of growth, service, and incredible memories. Despite the demanding workload, she found ways to contribute beyond the classroom.

During her studies, she served as as Legal Officer of the Cambridge University Nigerian Society, Welfare Officer & Student Ambassador of Wolfson College, Cambridge, Rappoteur for Pro Bono Week UK, compere for the Cambridge Africa Conference and Volunteer Tutor for CB Mentoring.

Olga remarked that the past nine months felt like she had no days off, yet it was the most exciting time of her life. Through all the responsibilities and achievements, Olga remained focused and driven.

As she marks this milestone, Olga expressed deep gratitude for the knowledge she gained and the people she met along the way. She looks forward to an even more exciting future, ready to make a greater impact in the legal and corporate world.

 

In another story, a brilliant Nigerian lawyer named Esther Arokun has achieved remarkable success in the United States, earning a master’s degree with distinction and passing the Washington State Bar Exam with a score high enough to qualify for licensure across multiple jurisdictions.

Esther’s academic journey began in 2016 when she enrolled at Adekunle Ajasin University to study Law. She graduated in 2020 with first-class honors, emerging as the overall best graduating student in the Faculty of Law.

Following this achievement, she proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, where she graduated successfully and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2022 as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Read more about Esther HERE.
