A brilliant Nigerian man named Abdullateef Adedamola Adedeji has made history as the best-graduating student of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Nigeria, after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with an outstanding 4.91 CGPA out of 5.00.
His remarkable achievement earned him multiple awards, including a ₦2.5 million cash prize from the governor of his state as the 2024 Valedictorian of the university. Notably, his cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is the highest ever recorded in the institution’s history.
Abdullateef began his academic journey at the Kwara State College of Education, where he earned a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Mathematics and Computer Science. He later proceeded to TASUED to further his education.
Reflecting on his journey, Abdullateef shared on LinkedIn that when he first enrolled at TASUED in 2022, his initial goal was simply to graduate with a First-Class degree, as encouraged by his mentor.

However, a life-changing conversation with one of his lecturers inspired him to aim even higher.
”That conversation ignited a flame in me. I upgraded my goal and started working towards it with unwavering focus, trusting in the Grace and Favour of God and the support of mentors, family, and friends,” he said.
And he did. Aside from being awarded the overall best student, he was also the best graduating student of his department and college.
Interestingly, Mathematics was once a subject Adedamola dreaded. However, during his preparation for the UTME examination, he dedicated time and energy to mastering it, and it gradually became a part of him.
Abdullateef said initially when applying for his NCE program, he wanted to study Chemistry/Computer Science, but he was offered Computer Science/Mathematics. “It was during my NCE program that I fell in love with teaching Mathematics. That passion led me to choose Mathematics as my degree program,” he said.
Aside from his academic pursuits, Abdullateef actively engaged in extracurricular activities. He was involved in training teachers on Educational Technology (EdTech) and took up side hustles to support his financial needs.
Additionally, he was appointed Coordinator of the College of Science and Information Technology (COSIT) by the Muslim Student Society of Nigeria (MSSN) TASUED during his final year.
Looking ahead, Abdullateef plans to further develop his EdTech brand and contribute significantly to teacher training initiatives. He also looks forward to earning his Master’s degree and PhD, within 7 years.
