A young Nigerian man named Oluwatosin Fawehinmi has graduated from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a first-class degree in Business Administration, earning an impressive 4.86 cumulative grade point average out of 5.00.
Oluwatosin’s academic journey was marked by exceptional consistency and discipline, as he achieved a perfect 5.00 GPA in three different semesters, a rare feat that further highlights his academic excellence.
Although his undergraduate journey was initially expected to last four years, it stretched into six years, a period he described as deeply formative. According to him, the additional time did not slow him down but instead shaped his resilience, focus, and growth.
Oluwatosin's Story and How He Did It
After completing secondary school in 2018, Oluwatosin first applied to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and was offered admission through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programme.
Though an achievement, it left him unsatisfied as he wanted better. He mreapplied the following year and gained admission in 2019 into the Department of Business Administration at UNILAG, a decision he said changed everything.
Throughout his undergraduate years, Oluwatosin pushed himself far beyond academic requirements. He sat for ACCA examinations, earning a Certificate of Achievement in Financial Accounting after scoring over 85%.

He was also a beneficiary of the prestigious Chevron–Agbami Joint Venture Scholarship in 2021.
In addition, he was selected among 20 students to represent the University of Lagos in a Transnational Programme involving the University of Iowa (USA) and SUPDECO in Dakar, Senegal, gaining valuable international exposure.
Beyond his personal achievements, Oluwatosin gave back academically by teaching courses such as Cost Accounting, Financial Accounting, Finance, and related subjects to fellow undergraduates.
Towards the end of his studies, he also ventured into data analytics, developing skills in Excel, SQL, Python, and Power BI.
Reflecting on his journey, Oluwatosin acknowledged that his success did not come without challenges, pauses, and moments of doubt.
He expressed deep gratitude to his parents for their unwavering support, his friends, and family members who provided encouragement and a stable environment throughout his undergraduate years.
“I’m proud of how far I’ve come, grateful for the lessons learned, and genuinely excited for what comes next,” he said.
