After facing repeated admission setbacks, a determined young woman, Opeyemi Fasedemi, has finally celebrated a remarkable academic victory — graduating with a First Class degree and an impressive 4.74 cumulative grade point average in Business Administration.

Opeyemi's Story and How She Did It
After finishing secondary school, Opeyemi sat for the UTME and scored an outstanding 274 out of 400, a score high enough to secure admission in many Nigerian universities. However, despite applying twice to Lagos State University, admission eluded her.
Those two years were emotionally draining. Many of her friends had already moved on to university life while she remained stuck, questioning why her efforts were not yielding results.
Determined to change her story, she made a new decision in 2019 and applied to University of Lagos, where she gained admission to study Business Administration.

From the very beginning, she set a bold goal — to graduate with a First Class degree, targeting nothing less than a 4.8 CGPA. Her first year went well, ending with a CGPA of 4.79. However, the journey soon tested her resilience. In her second year, her grades dipped, and she recorded a GPA of 4.42, earning her only C grade in Accounting. Her CGPA dropped to about 4.61, leaving her discouraged and fearful that her First Class dream was slipping away.
But she refused to quit.
There were nights she cried while studying and days she struggled to keep up. At the same time, she pushed herself beyond classroom learning. She enrolled in the ALX Africa Salesforce Administrator program during exam season, juggling academic demands with professional training.
The first time she wrote the Salesforce certification exam, she failed. Devastated but undeterred, she prepared again, rewrote the exam, and passed — becoming a Salesforce Certified Administrator. Along the way, she also trained as a Virtual Assistant and spent months learning UI/UX design skills.
Her persistence eventually paid off.
By the end of her final semester, she achieved a perfect 5.0 GPA, graduating with a CGPA of 4.74 and earning a First Class degree.
She described her graduation moment as deeply emotional, especially as she shook the Vice-Chancellor’s hand — a scene she had imagined for years while watching others achieve the same milestone.
Looking back, she says her story goes beyond grades. It is a story of resilience, persistence, faith, and trusting God through delays and disappointments.
She also expressed deep gratitude to her family, friends, classmates, and everyone who supported her during difficult moments.
Now stepping into the next phase of her life, Opeyemi says she carries every lesson, setback, and victory with her.
