AFRICA | A determined young lady named Fatihat Abdul-Azeez has earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with First Class Honours from the University of Ibadan, following years of persistence, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Her journey proves that rejection is not the end of the road, it can simply be a redirection toward something greater.
Fatihat's Story and How She Did It
After secondary school, Fatihat sat for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, scoring an impressive 291 in her bid to study Law. Despite the high score, she was not admitted to study Law.
Determined, she rewrote the examination. Once again, she performed strongly. However, she was offered Communication and Language Arts instead of Law at the University of Ibadan.
Though disappointed, she refused to abandon her dream. She accepted the admission and resumed her studies, still holding firmly to her ambition of becoming a lawyer.

In her first year, she excelled academically. By her second year, she secured a transfer into the Faculty of Law at the 200 Level. But the transition came at a cost.
She had to combine both 100 Level and 200 Level Law courses simultaneously, an academically intense and mentally demanding task. “It was intense. It stretched me. It tested me. But I maintained a First Class at every level (Alhamdulillahi),” she said.
Through discipline and relentless focus, she sustained a First Class performance throughout her studies. For Fatihat, studying Law was more than earning a certificate.
“Law didn’t just give me a degree, it taught me resilience, discipline, and how to thrive under pressure,” she said.
She described her achievement as a result of faith, perseverance, and divine grace: “This milestone is purely by the mercy and divine orchestration of Almighty Allah — truly, He is the Best of Planners.”
Fatihat expressed deep gratitude to her family, especially her mother, along with her siblings, friends, colleagues, and tutors who supported her journey.
