AFRICA | A brilliant young lady named Nakato Dorothy has graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from Makerere University, Uganda, with an outstanding 4.93 out of 5.00 CGPA.
Her remarkable academic performance earned her the title of Best Graduating Student in the School of Business, graduating with the highest distinction in her class.
Dorothy's Story and How She Did It
Dorothy began her academic journey in 2022 and maintained consistent excellence throughout her four years at the university. From her first year to her final semester, she remained at the top of her class and faculty.
Although she was closely competing with another high-performing classmate, Dorothy stayed focused and academically grounded until the very end. Her discipline and determination paid off as she crossed the finish line as the overall best student in her school.
In recognition of her exceptional achievement, Dorothy received a cash prize of 1 million Ugandan shillings.
Expressing her gratitude, she thanked the management of Makerere University and the School of Business for creating an enabling learning environment and for recognizing her efforts.
While she was confident she would graduate as one of the top students, Dorothy admitted she did not expect to win the cash prize, making the award even more meaningful.
Beyond academics, Dorothy successfully balanced her studies with entrepreneurship. She is into designer shoes running her business while pursuing her degree.
Now that she has graduated, she plans to invest and reinvest the prize money into expanding her designer shoe business, applying the procurement and supply chain knowledge she gained in school to build and grow her brand strategically.
Dorothy describes her achievement as a dream come true and views it as a foundation for even greater accomplishments in the future.
