17-year-old exceptional girl gains admission to 18 US universities at the same time, wins over $1m scholarship award

An exceptional 17-year-old girl from Pennsylvania, Shanya Robinson-Owens has won a scholarship of over $1 million after receiving admission offers from 18 top universities in the United States.

Shanya Robinson-Owens applied to over 25 universities in the US following her outstanding performance at the George Washington Carver High School. She secured an outstanding 3.2 GPA in High School putting her in league of brilliant students in the country.

However, she expressed how shocked she was to see the huge number of acceptance from top schools which are backed with scholarships valued at $1,074,260. “I was pretty excited. I wasn’t really expecting it,” she told GMA.

Shanya’s aunt, Christine Owens, described her niece’s over $1 million awards as shocking, noting that she had always had good grades but such an amount was unimaginable.

“We are overjoyed. I knew she wouldn’t have a problem getting into colleges, but we didn’t know they would award her this much money in scholarship funds,” Christine said.
