AFRICA | An exceptional Nigerian Lady scores 6As in WAEC, 316 in JAMB, bags 4.72 first-class degree in Electrical Engineering.
A brilliant Nigerian lady, Chikire Aku-Ibe, has achieved a remarkable milestone by graduating with a first-class degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria.
With an outstanding CGPA of 4.72/5.00, she emerged as the Best Female Graduating Student in her department and the School of Electrical Systems Engineering and Technology (SESET).
Chikire’s academic journey began in 2018 when she was named the Best WASSCE Science Student at Federal Government College, Owerri according to her LinkedIn. She excelled in her exams, scoring 316/400 in JAMB, 304/400 in post-UTME, and 6 As and 3 Bs in WASSCE.

At FUTO, she earned numerous honors, including Best Female Graduating Student in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Best Female Graduating Student in the School of Electrical Systems Engineering and Technology (SESET)
Chikire also won the award of the Third Overall Best Female Graduating Student at FUTO, Two Dean’s Awards for Academic Excellence and Achieved a perfect 5.00 GPA in three semesters.
Chikire’s academic excellence earned her several scholarships, including the Federal Government Scholarship, MTN Foundation Scholarship, and Prof. Celestine Onwuliri Memorial Scholarship (2018/2019).
In addition to her academic achievements, she demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, serving as Assistant Course Representative, Electronic and Computer Engineering Option, Unilever Campus Ambassador (2023/2024), and Vice Chairperson, “After School What Next” Initiative in her final year.
Chikire was also the Curation Team Lead, Internship Seminar (4th year), and Treasurer, Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students (SEEES).
She gained valuable professional experience through internships and competitions, including Intern, at MTN Nigeria, Ex-Program Coordinator, Zuri Team (2022/2023), and CFA Institute Research Challenge Participant (2022/2023).
Chikire was also the Hult Prize Regional Participant (2021). She also guided over 20 students in scholarship applications and 100+ students in internship applications, demonstrating her passion for mentorship and empowering others.
Reflecting on her success, Chikire expressed gratitude to her support system. “Firstly, I thank God for His grace. To my family, loved ones, professors, and mentors, your support, prayers, and guidance made this journey possible,” she said.
She extended special thanks to her project supervisor for mentoring her on her final-year project, “Design and Development of an IoT-Based Theft Detection System.” She also appreciated her project teammate and senior colleagues for their invaluable contributions
