”Remember applying for first year transcript and my exam officer kept asking me what happened, for the life of me I couldn’t answer. How did a 5.0GPA go down to 2:2 Second class lower,” she said.

Chinonso admitted that she struggled in silence, not having the confidence to confide in anyone as she had no tangible explanation for why her grades had dropped.

Determined to turn things around, she intensified her efforts, engaging in relentless studying, countless sleepless nights working on drawing assignments, her weakest area, and prayers and perseverance.

Chinonso’s hard work eventually paid off. Not only did she graduate with a First-Class degree, but she also finished as the third-best graduating student in her department.

She went further to celebrate another milestone—she and two other female students emerged as the top three graduates in a male-dominated field.

”To think that Immediately you mention Engineering, people think of Boys, but it’s beautiful to see that the Top 3 Students in Civil Engineering, UNN were girls,” she said.

Chinonso expressed her gratitude to her family, friends, and support system, who stood by her throughout her academic journey.
