Successful applicants will be exempted from tuition feeas and are as well paid £16,384 per year according to the UKRI rates for PhD students.
The scholarship is a full 3.5 year PhD studentship funded by the School of Geography as part of their support for the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship.

Scholarship Details:
The School of Geography at the University of Leeds is currently seeking a PhD candidate to undertake a PhD linked to the UKRI-funded GENERATE project ‘Gender, Generation and Climate Change (GENERATE): Creative Approaches to Building Inclusive and Climate Resilient Cities in Uganda and Indonesia’, led by Dr. Katie McQuaid. GENERATE explores the gender-age-urban interface of climate change.Â
The PhD student will be based in the School of Geography at the University of Leeds, but you will conduct up to 9 months of ethnographic fieldwork in the Global South. You will develop a project that investigates how gender and sexuality shape impacts, experiences and responses to climate change.

Scholarship Requirements:
To be considered for the scholarship, you must:
- Have at least a first-class or an upper second class British Bachelors Honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline.Â
- The criteria for entry for some research degrees may be higher, for example, several faculties, also require a Masters degree
